Five years of Sobriety

The 11th of January marks a very significant date in my life. It was the day I walked into my first AA meeting. It wasn’t the happiest day of my life, but it was the start of a journey that has changed my entire belief in myself and afforded me a second chance. Every year around this time I reflect on my past and the pain from my darkest days’ cloud my thoughts. However with every sober year I accumulate - rays of colour appear on the horizon - a RAINBOW marking the end of the rain, of my unhappiness, bringing beauty and joy into my life:-)

Happy 2015 everyone!!! there is always SOMETHING to be grateful for. A beautiful sunrise marking the beginning of a new day, a colourful bird serenading you good morning, a new bloom in your garden, a butterfly fluttering by, a cup of tea with a good friend, a sing-a-long-song on the radio, a sweaty workout, a hug from your loved ones, a rambunctious welcome from your pet after a long day at work, a scrumptious meal or a peaceful sleep. Yes there is an abundance of beauty in this world and I need to allow gratitude to seep into my soul bringing the gifts of light and hope to my life.

Week Seven
